Welcome to Alien RPG and Halifax | Episode 37 | Time to GTFO. The Working Joe has been destroyed and the crew rests for the night. They need it. The fight with the Working Joe took a lot out of them both physically and mentally. I’m pretty sure they are all thinking the same thing. It is TIME TO GTFO!!

SEASON 3 SO FAR

BRIEF NOTE

Season 3 does not have a lot of episodes but I believe that it has been the most challenging season to date. It has also taken me a lot of time to plan and create this season because of all the intricacies. With that said, let’s review some of the highlights so far.

RECAP

You have been trapped inside LV-779 after a horrific encounter with Devan, an android determined to capture Imogen. Speaking of Imogen, the android has been missing ever since the encounter. So many questions but you were knocked out before any questions could be asked.

After waking up locked inside a barrack, you have managed to free yourself from capture and make your way through a portion of LV-779 without any resistance for quite some time.

You did find a control room. The control room has allowed you to open doors and passageways. You also get a bit of information from the control terminal. You know you are on the second floor and you know that you need three keycards to unlock the roof. Three captains carried these cards. All you have to do is find them. At this time, you have found one.

During your explorations, you have heard and felt low-frequency impacts. These impacts pound your chest as the sound waves travel. They seem to be coming from another part of LV-779 or maybe outside the walls.

You have encountered a powerful Walking Joe. The android’s power did not come from attacks but from its relentless defense. It seemed to keep your attention for quite some time, but why? Is it pure chance or something deeper? Think about it.

You found some equipment after your encounter with the Walking Joe. The only thing left to do now is move forward and it’s time to GTFO.

TIME TO GTFO

The crew starts the season by waking up from a long rest. The first thing on their mind is it is time to GTFO. In order to do so, they are going to have to press forward. That means that they will need to re-enter the hallways that the Walking Joe was in.

Time to GTFO

I’m pretty sure we are all thinking about it. What else can be in there?

WHAT DOES MU/TH/UR THINK?

We are all rusty. We were all so busy this summer that we could not find time to meet. It has been two months since our last session so we do spend some time looking up rules we have forgotten. However, that’s what happens when you are busy and can’t keep a schedule.

I’m okay with this though. My initial intention was to record real gameplay and not a show. This is the real deal with very little editing, just as I intended. I realize not everyone is on board with that but it is what it is.

Regardless, this is a fun episode. There is something for everyone. What I enjoyed seeing was the growth of the crew. It seems to me that they learned quite a bit from the battle with the Walking Joe. Mistakes are still made but overall, the strategy has evolved.

ABOUT HALIFAX: PRECIOUS CARGO BETWIXT DRAGONS AND GHOSTS

This is the story of Halifax, an M-Class Commercial Starfreighter under the ownership of Weyland-Yutani, a large multinational conglomerate. The Wey-Yu employed crew aboard Halifax takes on cargo delivery jobs that dispatch them across the Stars of the Middle Heavens. However, space is a dangerous place, and the unimaginable is bound to happen.

The story of Halifax is set within the Alien universe. We are a team of five and we work together to tell the story. Our adventure begins in the year 2179, the same year that Ellen Ripley is recovered from the Nostromo, survives LV-426, and then is lost on Florina 161.

Alien RPG is a tabletop role-playing game that serves as the framework that guides us through our journey. Halifax: Precious Cargo betwixt Dragons and Ghosts is based on a homebrew campaign written by Joseph Stader. Every episode features actual play with minimal editing.

Expect story elements regarding space horror, sci-fi action, survival, and a sense of wonder. Gameplay consists of chance mixed with strategic planning. Every choice has a consequence. The right choice leads to another day where the wrong choice leads to panic, injury, or death.
