Halifax | Episode 6 | Abandoned Space Station | Alien RPG
The crew decides to visit the abandoned space station orbiting Arges in an attempt to salvage parts for Halifax. Amana, the colony representative on Arges, said in Episode Five that the space station was once used by the colony to research relay technologies. However, the space station became obsolete after some time and the colony no longer needed it. The colony took what they needed from the space station when it was no longer needed but Amana assured Halifax that they can find what they are looking for. Since the space station is Weyland-Yutani property, there is no harm in Halifax salvaging parts. Weyland-Yutani will eventually come for the space station and dismantle it for scrap anyway.
What Halifax knows
The abandoned space station orbiting Arges has not been maintained for some time. There is no power and there is no life support so Halifax has a list of challenges ahead of them.
Halifax will have to manually dock with the abandoned space station. Everyone will need to work together and in sync to ensure that Halifax can make a strong connection to the abandoned space station’s umbilical. A faulty connection could create an explosion and wipe everyone out before the expedition even begins.
When Halifax makes the connection, they can then make their way onto the abandoned space station. Since there is no power or life support, they need to rely on their IRC MK.50 Compression Suits for breathable air and temperature control. A vacuum can cause a person to die in no time so a reliable spacesuit takes priority.
Risk versus Reward
There is no doubt that risk takes a front-row seat in attempting to salvage spare parts. Halifax tried to buy the parts on Arges but the parts are simply too expensive so the risk seems necessary. The catch though is risk versus reward. The risks involved will either lead to success or failure and failure can possibly lead to death.

I’m a bit disappointed with the way Episode 6 came out. My plan was to use Episode 6 to teach some mechanics and push the idea of how important inventory can be. It all sounded good while I wrote it and I was really excited to go through the process but my plan didn’t work out as I had hoped.
I had a bit of a hard time with supply checks and observation checks. I did what the rulebook says but during the salvage expedition, I felt like my players were running out of air too fast. As the Game Mother, I realize that I can bend the rules but I like to follow the rules as much as possible. After all, that’s what the rules are there for. However, I felt like this combination didn’t work for me. I may have to bend the rules a bit should such an event occur again in the future.
